Touched by an Alien Alien Novels Gini Koch Books
A Science Fiction Romance with likeable characters, character development, and the all important happy ending. It is far from perfect but very fun to read. I recommend this for anyone who likes romance novels. Also for anyone who likes science fiction novels and wish they had 'happier' endings more often. I mean, if I wanted 'reality' I'd live my own life instead of read about someone else's.The series will be easier to read when the author decides to learn better grammar. That aside I think I understood the what was written well enough to enjoy myself a great deal. I loved the novel so much I bought the rest of the series and greatly enjoyed reading those too.
I am not an expert at writing with perfect grammar and spelling either; But it helps with reading, and that I am pretty good at. I am a positive minded person and choose to avoid being snide and cynical as some "reviewers" seem to be. I see little value in trying to show everyone how awesome I am by tearing someone else's creation down.
Maybe Mrs. Koch is reading this? If so I suggest maybe researching and incorporating some of the current 'alien' conspiracy and mythos theories. Specifically the theories regarding them being around prior to the renaissance.
I have yet to see many 'science fiction' authors do that with actual current theories. Instead they stick to popculture's perception of what the "Conspiracy King" knows and thinks.
As for constructive criticism regarding sentences. Break up paragraphs into single topics.
Instead of writing half a dozen sentences into a single paragraph. I used to do that a lot too. It is perfectly find to have a paragraph be a single sentence in a novel.

Touched by an Alien Alien Novels Gini Koch Books Reviews
I've read the first two in this series, and within a few weeks I expect I'll have read them all. They're a lot of fun.
Katherine "Kitty" Katt was a mild-mannered marketing manager in Arizona when she was unexpectedly called on to save the world. She turned out to be good at it. Inherent talent, which she came by naturally, her mother being having been the only non-Jew and non-Israeli to ever work for the Mossad, and her father being a cryptologist for NASA. Though Kitty was a bit annoyed that she'd never been told what either of them really did for a living.
Having killed an alien monster in the middle of the street, our heroine finds out that there are aliens on Earth, that they've been around for decades, and that there's a war going on between two alien factions. From there, things just get stranger, especially when she finds out that the good guy aliens are all humanoid and gorgeous, while the bad guys were hunting her before she was aware they existed. But with a combination of luck, brains, intuition, and determination, Kitty handles whatever comes at her.
The writing's a little rough at times, and I REALLY with someone had told Gini Koch that Glocks don't have safeties. But this is a fun romp that reminds me of J. D. Robb's novels, J. D. Robb CD Collection 1 Naked in Death, Glory in Death, Immortal in Death (In Death Series),J.D. Robb in Death Series 1-30 (30 Book Set) and I recommend it to all who like adventure/sf/romance mixes.
{Later shouldn't review when I'm half asleep.} And I'll also mention that when I'm reading these books, my wife is constantly saying "What?", because I'm once again laughing out loud.
I stumbled across book 2 of this series, "Alien Tango", in the library and upon finishing it, immediately hit the book store to purchase every other book in the series. "Touched By An Alien" is a fast paced, smart, savvy, female empowered romp with lots of humor, pop culture references and tongue firmly in cheek. Katherine "Kitty" Katt is leaving jury duty when a violent alien spawns in front of her. After killing it with a writing pen, Kitty is surrounded by a group of amazingly handsome, Armani clad men who usher her into a grey limo and a whole new life.
The book has an off kilter sense of humor that appealed to me and I really submerged myself into the world. Kitty is fun to read as she confounds the men around her, going off on tangents and generally out thinking them.( She is the me I would liked to have been at her age.) I love the characters, these are people I'd love to hang out or go to dinner with. I know not every one will "get" the humor or enjoy the style but I can't recommend "Touched by an Alien" highly enough.
Audio Book Addendum
* * * * four stars
I purchased the Tantor audio edition of Touched by an Alien. I like that the format is a MP3 CD; I just put it straight on my MP3 player and pressed play. The reader, Romy Nordlinger, was good. The editing could be a bit tighter; there were a few places where the characters voice would change mid speech. The only real complaint I have is that each book has an intro and that intro was missing. The intro is what convinced me to pick up one of Mz. Koch's books and I missed it. I hope Tantor will continue the series with book 2, Alien Tango, just put the intro back in!
